A day out

venue-641.jpgA bit of time on my hands today so I took a quick drive around the Upper Hutt industrial area and then up to see the new Exeloos recently installed behind Hazelwoods. Tuesday’s Upper Hutt Leader put their cost at $110,000, so I expected a public toilet experience at least a few cuts above the ordinary. I was not disappointed! The extensive range of features include a no-touch sensor operated basin, no-touch flushing, an electronic toilet tissue dispenser and an automated wash cycle.

And judging by the celebrations still going on some four weeks since they were unveiled, the people of Upper Hutt have taken them to their hearts. Tonight, like last night, the Hazelwood carpark will swarm with young children dancing to the samba band, dressed up as toilet brushes and generally causing cheery mayhem! I’m going back tomorrow – hope to see you there.
